Home Planet: Amaranthus

The oldest daughter of a generational family of farmers, she lived with her family on Amaranthus in the countryside of Lightshore River. The family raises crops and livestock but their livelihood was devastated by a crop disease of unknown origin, and following a planetary wide economic collapse the family fell into poverty when Lotus was a teenager. To survive the family stayed together and combined their efforts and resources. By the time Lotus had reached her twenties, remaining naive and hopeful, she'd grown restless and frustrated, deciding to pursue work off planet. After sending out her name as available, she's contacted by a mysterious recruiter offering incredibly good pay.

Lotus takes the job without question, eagerly signing on with the clause that the location could change, thinking nothing of it until she'd told en route, mid-flight.

Design and Concept

My thoughts on Lotus were that her design was to be mostly ordinary, but I did have specifics of how I wanted her to look. The inked sketches I did initially looked like what I envisioned, or close to it, but once I put the colors on her portrait it looked almost totally different. She looks a little mousy I think in this character sheet, which I did not want. I also thought I chose the right shade of marker for her eyes, but it's way off. And the boots…I lost all detail when I put the colors on! Y’all just ignore those for now, okay? lol

Oh traditional art woes and not having an "undo" button...I will be making a digital portrait of her later, which will be so much easier when it comes to correcting and fine tuning things.
